All of us can think of a time when we battled physical suffering, emotional pain, and the temptation to do something wrong.

More and more, we face a culture that sees no value in offering something up and where what was once seen as wrong or a sin, is viewed as relative.

Spiritual warfare has always been real.  The devil does exist and wants to bring us down.  The Lord wants to lift us up.  We are faced with temptations daily, and sometimes … we miss the mark.  But there is great news – and that is, we are not alone in this fight.  There are many Catholics that have seen the Lord’s hand in healing, recovery and hope that want to walk with us as we strive for sainthood and God’s grace.

There are many Catholic ministries out there.  This article wants to make sure you know that there is a ministry for:

  • the person addicted to pornography
  • the woman who has just been informed by her doctor that her unborn child may have a severe birth defect
  •  the Catholic whose family is facing crisis (divorce, separation, etc.)
  • the mother who just lost her child
  • the Christian who wants to stay focused on Jesus above all things.

There is a ministry for anyone addicted to pornography

The Porn Industry has infiltrated so many homes that it now grosses between 12 – 14 billion dollars a year. That revenue larger than the combined annual revenues of ABC, NBC, and CBS.

And it’s growing.

To help fight the addiction many suffer, Steve Pokorny runs Freedom Coaching.

Freedom Coaching  Setting the Blind Free from Darkness

Freedom Coaching is a one-to-one mentoring system aimed at helping those with an attraction and compulsion to pornography, with the goal of reclaiming a healthy vision of the body and of sexuality and thus become inoculated to the enticement of pornographic images.

Countless people attest that trying to overcome the temptation to use pornography involves more than resolutions, will power, and strengthening one’s moral character. In order to get to the root, we must recognize and treat pornography as a drug, intimacy, and vision problem. In addition to making certain lifestyle changes, it requires an intentional process of “rewiring” the brain of discovering one’s true identity, seeking out healthy forms of intimacy, and learning how to view the body and sexuality correctly.

Although Freedom Coaching uses principles based upon Catholic theology, specifically Saint John Paul the Great’s Theology of the Body, this process is available to everyone regardless of religion. Freedom Coaching is offered by those who have struggled with an attachment or compulsion to pornography in their own lives and are experiencing lasting freedom. They desire to walk alongside others as they pursue the redemption of their vision.

There is a ministry for those who are pregnant and are concerned about a pre-natal diagnosis

With advanced medical technology, many pregnant women are receiving poor pre-natal diagnosis.  Many times – in fact, most times – the news of this diagnosis is paired with the topic, choice and even recommendation of termination and abortion.

Many times, expectant mothers are not given a diagnosis, but simply a screening which is not diagnostic – and abortion and termination are brought up by medical professionals and physicians in these conversations as well.

Be Not Afraid offers free service of practical guidance and compassionate care focusing on meeting the needs of expectant parents as they seek to honor the life of their baby no matter how frail or how brief.

the experience of a prenatal diagnosis leaves parents shocked and bereaved, and often they are also traumatized by the way in which information concerning their baby’s diagnosis was shared and/or by the offer abortion.  We provide bereavement support, practical guidance, information, and referrals so that parents understand what is normal, what is possible and what might be helpful as they carry to term.  We work with parents in the development of a written birth plan which includes a newborn care plan so that they understand the decisions they may make regarding labor, birth and the care of their baby.  We attend births when requested or assist parents in finding appropriate birth support.  We share information on funeral planning and memory-making and can help with the cost of a funeral if needed.  For parents after birth, we offer on-going contacts for one year, private Facebook communities, and referrals for support as needed.
